Velvet Gift Box with Custom Ribbon
Custom rigid boxes with flocked or fabric-wrapped velvet, branded ribbon and inserts engineered around your product set. Colour, pile direction, logo method, fit and bow position are confirmed through a physical sample before bulk production.
The First Touch Customers Comment On
Velvet adds a tactile cue before the box opens, but the sourcing decision is technical: flocked and fabric-wrapped surfaces behave differently at corners, curves and logos. Pile direction also changes how colour reads under photography and retail lighting.
Ribbon may be printed or solid colour and supplied as a loose tie or controlled pre-tied assembly. Logo method and insert construction are selected against the actual velvet route, product weight and desired reveal.
Send a textile colour reference, artwork, product dimensions and target quantity for feasibility review. Compare the result with a classic magnetic rigid box or a heart-shaped velvet box.

Velvet & Ribbon Options
Details that carry the hand-wrapped feel:
Printed Satin Bows
Specify ribbon width, artwork repeat, tie style and target position, then approve the assembled sample.
Deboss-in-Pile Logo
Logo pressed into the velvet pile itself, read by touch as much as by eye.
Set Inserts
Die-cut beds presenting serums, minis or candles in a single choreographed reveal.
Custom Pile Colour
Use a textile reference and approve the production material under the lighting that matters to your brand.
Flocked or Fabric-Wrapped? Decide This Before Colour
There are two different ways to put velvet on a rigid box, and they fail in different places. Getting this wrong is the reason a box can look right in a photo and wrong in the hand.
Flocking bonds short fibres to an adhesive-coated surface, creating a continuous velvet-like layer across panels and formed details. Fibre, adhesive, coverage and substrate all affect hand feel and wear, so approve the production-intent material rather than specifying quality from pile length alone.
Fabric-wrapped velvet is woven velvet laminated over the board. The pile is deeper and it drapes, but every corner is a folded or mitred join — under raking light you can see them, and on a small box those joins land close together where the eye is already looking.
| Flocked | Fabric-Wrapped | |
|---|---|---|
| Surface character | Short, controlled velvet-like layer | Woven pile with a textile drape |
| Corners | Continuous coated surface | Folded / mitred joins |
| Compact boxes | Useful when visible wrap joins are undesirable | Corner construction needs close sample review |
| Curved or shaped lids | Follows the form | Difficult, often puckers |
| Logo method | Deboss-in-pile, foil-on-flock | Deboss, foil, embroidery |
| Colour route | Dyed fibre lot | Dyed fabric lot |
Use a Textile Reference for Velvet Colour Approval
A coated-paper colour reference and a textile colour reference are not interchangeable. Paper, flock and woven velvet reflect light differently, so a shared colour name does not guarantee the same visual result across the box, ribbon and printed accessories.
For sourcing, send a textile-system reference or a physical swatch for velvet, plus the appropriate print reference for paper components. If the set combines a flocked box and printed belly band, approve them side by side under agreed lighting and record which component is the visual master.
One more thing photographers hit: velvet pile lies in a direction. The same box shot from two angles reads light in one frame and dark in the other. That is nap, not a defect. Ask for lid and base pile to run the same way, and approve your sample under the lighting you intend to shoot in — not under warehouse fluorescents.
What to Include in a Comparable Velvet Box RFQ
Use one specification for every supplier. It is the only reliable way to compare price, construction and approval scope:
| RFQ Input | What to Send | Decision It Controls |
|---|---|---|
| Product set | Dimensions, weights, orientation and removal preference | Internal size and insert engineering |
| Velvet route | Flocked or fabric-wrapped preference, plus hand-feel reference | Corners, pile depth and logo compatibility |
| Colour | TCX or a physical textile swatch and approval lighting | Sampling and acceptable colour tolerance |
| Brand details | Logo artwork, ribbon width, print repeat and bow style | Dies, printing and assembly method |
| Order plan | Target quantity, launch date and destination | Feasibility, quotation basis and delivery plan |
Pricing, minimum quantity and timing are confirmed only after these variables and the requested trade term are reviewed.
